Kodanda Rama is a popular name of Bhagavan Sri Ram in South
India. Temples dedicated to Hindu God Kodandarama are found in Telangana and
Andhra Pradesh. The Rama with bow is referred to as Kodanda Rama.
Kodanda Rama is always represented as a royal personage of
bewitching beauty, well developed body, having broad eyes, long arms, curly
tresses, and auspicious marks.
When represented as the consecrated deity within a temple,
Rama is generally seen standing with queen Sita on the left and faithful
brother Lakshmana on the right. Ram and Lakshman hold bows and arrows. The bow
is called Kodanda.
